Why Is Dutchess County Building Lit Up Red?
Earlier this week, the Dutchess County Office Building was illuminated red. This isn't the first time that the lights on the building have turned a different color. Like times before, there is a special reason behind it.
According to the Dutchess County Government Facebook page, the red lights are part of "Light The Night For Fallen Firefighters."
Dutchess County Government explains a bit further adding:
" The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation created "Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters" to recognize the 25th anniversary of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.
They go on to write that since the creation of Light The Night for Fallen Firefighters they have expanded to "include fire departments and families lighting their homes in red."

How to Take Part in Light The Night For Fallen Firefighters
Then on the the last day of the Light The Night memorial there will be a National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm EST.
If you're interested in participating next year, or year round, you can purchase a red light for your home or business through their Amazon Associates link. Bulbs purchased through this link will "benefit the programs of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to honor America’s fallen fire heroes; support their families, colleagues, and organizations; and work to reduce preventable firefighter death and injury."
