This afternoon, I found myself sitting in a place I never thought I'd be, the press room at Yankee Stadium, waiting to interview Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. As I sat there, I thought back to the first time I met them.

The year was 1991, the place was the Crawford County Fair in Meadville, Pennsylvania, and it was my first time ever to bring an artist on stage. Trisha opened the show, and Garth, on the verge of winning his first CMA Entertainer of the Year Award, put on a performance few had ever seen at a country show before. I remember feeling so lucky to have seen both of them perform, let alone interview them.

I am a fan of both. I own every album each has released, and I love Trisha's cooking show, so imagine my excitement that I was lucky enough, again, to get to talk with each of them in such an amazing place like Yankee Stadium.

Both were gracious and generous with their time. They shared lots of stories about touring together, their marriage, and how they don't take a single show for granted because they know how much everyone has to go through just to get into the show. Garth even shared that he got to hold Babe Ruth's bat, and what an amazing moment that was for him.

It was an afternoon I will never forget. If you ever have the chance to see them perform, do it, no matter what, you will also have a memory you'll never forget.  Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go call my Mom and Dad and tell them all about my day.
