After six years, one of the Oscars’ boldest (and most desperate) experiments may be coming to an end. In 2009, the Academy Awards changed its rules to allow up to 10 films to receive Best Picture nominations. The thought process was simple enough: with double the potential nominees, more mainstream fare could get nominated and ratings for the annual Oscars telecast would increase. But that didn’t work. This year’s ceremony was a disaster (in more ways than one) and the Academy is apparently ready to call this whole thing off and return to the old ways.

MERYL STREEP announced last night's "In Memoriam" segment on the Oscars. She led with the words, "A single person is missing for you and the whole world is empty." One of the celebrities who WASN'T mentioned during the segment was JOAN RIVERS...

Well, that was interesting. Just when you think you've got the Oscars figured out, they throw you a huge curve ball. Or, maybe what's so surprising about this year's nominations is how nothing is really different?

The 2015 Golden Globes winners will be revealed during the Tina Fey and Amy Poehler-hosted awards ceremony, broadcast live on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST on NBC. The 2015 Golden Globes winners are considered somewhat of a primer for the upcoming Oscars (both of which feature many of the same big Hollywood names and movies of the past year), but not exactly a perfect predictor either. Many movies and actors have won at the Golden Globes only to not even be nominated at the Oscars. The 2015 Golden Globes nominations are in and we already can’t wait for the awards ceremony! Comedic duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are returning to host the Globes for the third straight year, which is awesome if you like awesome things. But enough of that, let’s get down to the list of nominees! Kate Beckinsale, Peter Krause, Jeremy Piven and Paula Patton joined the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to announce the 2015 Golden Globes nominations.
