Stewart’s Shops Does Something it Has Never Done Before
Stewart’s Shops have announced that they have done something they've never done in their 80-year history!
One of the Hudson Valley's favorite places to grab just about anything has officially announced they have appointed a new president to oversee one of the most popular convenience stores in New York.
Stewart's Shops New President
Chad Kiesow has just been named the new president at Stewarts Shop, replacing former president Gary Dake, according to the Stewarts Shop website. The promotion of Kiesow marks the first time in its 80-year history that Stewart's will have someone outside of the Dake family as president. It is also part of the company's planned transition and will ensure continuity between the Dake family and the employee-owned company.
Kiesow, who joined Stewart’s in 1994, officially took the helm at Stewarts on June 1st, said,
"It is an honor to take on more responsibilities with the company. But this is not a sign of big changes. I still have the same number of bosses that I had last week. The Dakes have never been shy, and they are not the kind of leaders who will sit quietly on the sidelines."
Kiesow's appointment replaces Gary Dake, who has held the position since 2003. Dake, who will continue his role as the company's chief executive officer, said,
"This transition is at least three years in the making, and it is all about continuity. Chad has been an integral part of the business since he joined us more than three decades ago. He understands our bottom-up culture and our focus on taking care of our people and the communities we serve."
Stewart's Shops Selling to Employees
Last year we told you that the Dake family had decided to gradually start selling their 60% stake in the company back to its employees over the next 15 to 20 years, making it a completely employee owned company.
