Before you know, these might be collectors' items.

By now you have heard that New York State has set March 1st as the date that one-use plastic bags will no longer be available in most stores and now we have learned that the iconic Stewart's Shop plastic bags are going away, as well.

If you have ever shopped at Stewart's, you know that their plastic bags were the absolute best. They were those tough white plastic bags that most of us would reuse for all kinds of different things after we shopped at Stewart's.

According to Stewart's Facebook page, those bags are now set to go away as the ban on bags goes into effect March 1st. The post read, "With our efforts to Go Green and the statewide plastic bag ban beginning March 1st, we will no longer be offering our Stewart’s Shops plastic bags. If you have some laying around, we say – keep reusing them!"

They also said that, "We've seen them serve you in many ways – from acting as a lunch tote to holding your wet bathing suits and while we’re saying goodbye, we want to know… How have our plastic bags been a part of your life?"

Some of the comments from fans were great. Rebecca wrote, "I use mine for taking and carrying my wet boots in, but then again once I get home I wash and dry it to reuse. Your plastic bags have gone a long way and has been used for many things in my home."

Erika wrote, "I have reused the bags for so many different things. Broke my hand and used one for a cast cover while showering and at the beach. I watch young children and they are great for soiled clothes, and really nasty diapers...keeps odor down and no leaks. Bathroom garbage, used cat litter, wet swim gear, wet snow gear. All sorts of uses because they are so sturdy!"

Christine wrote, "We love them for fishing in the spring. We stock them up so we have enough to hold all of the fresh trout!!!!"
