After a lengthy closure, one of the Hudson Valley's favorite diners has reopened to the delight of many!

Back in 2021, we learned that one of Ulster County's favorite diners was temporarily closing due to staffing issues following the pandemic. The Starway Diner, located at 346 NY-212, Saugerties, NY, made the announcement on Facebook back in September 2021, saying,

"To all our Loyal customers and Friends, For the last two years all of you and us been dealing with a situation that is out of our hands, The Starway Diner will be Temporarily closed due to Staffing we will ( REOPEN )soon as we are fully STAFFD, we are Sorry for any inconvenience that were causing you !!!"

Almost four years later, they appear to be fully staffed and ready to serve customers.

Starway Diner Reopens in Saugerties, NY

According to folks in the Saugerties area, the Starway Diner has officially reopened! The diner posted the reopening news on Facebook on Sunday, August 31st, saying, "After some time away, we are excited to announce that The Starway Restaurant will be reopening tomorrow!"

Owner John Barese said,

"We can’t wait to welcome all of our loyal customers and friends back—your support has meant the world. Come hungry, bring your smiles."

As news of the reopening began to spread, fans took to social media to share how happy they were that the diner was back in business, leaving comments like, "Congratulations. Looking forward to seeing you all! You were missed!", "BEST NEWS EVER!!!!!", and "Yay that’s great news!"

When Are They Open?

The Starway Diner offers all of the classic diner food options, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with gluten-free options. They will be open Sunday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.
