While the beautiful blue skies, sunshine, and above average temperatures are a welcome sight here in the Hudson Valley, it also brings the chance of wild fires to our area this time of year.

The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for all of Eastern New York and New England in effect Tuesday afternoon. The danger time, and the reason for the watch, will be from 1 pm to 6 pm.

During this time, humidity will be low, temperatures will be above average, and the winds will be ten to fifteen miles per hour with wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour. When you take into account the fact that the ground is dry with plenty of dry fuels available, it makes for critical fire weather conditions.

Please be careful with any fires, check burning rules and regulations for your town. IN addition, throwing a lit cigarette out of a car window could spark a fire that could easily get out of control and spread.
