Snowstorm Could Impact First Full Day of Spring in Hudson Valley

Spring officially starts Wednesday evening, but winter isn't going down without a fight as parts of the Hudson Valley could see up to a foot of snow on Thursday.

According to Hudson Valley Weather, a low-pressure system from Virginia is making its way to the local area which will bring with it wet snow for parts of the region.

"It’s important to state clearly… that a minor shift in the position and track of this system, could mean more or less cold air available. If the storm is slightly further east, and stronger… some wet snow could be seen in the lower elevations of the Hudson Valley," Hudson Valley Weather wrote on its website.

A slushy 3 to 8 inches of snow is possible for Sullivan County as well as parts of Ulster, Greene and Delaware counties, according to Hudson Valley Weather. The higher elevations of those areas could see up to 12 inches of snow. Columbia County is forecast for 2 to 6 inches.

The rest of the Hudson Valley, including Dutchess, Orange Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, will likely mostly see cold rain, possibly mixed with some wet snowflakes.
