Should We Be Wearing Two Masks Now?
Here’s what Dr. Fauci has to say.
Most of us have excepted the fact that wearing a mask is going to be apart of our future for a longtime.
Experts have told us repeatedly that washing our hands frequently, staying six-feet apart when around others and wearing a mask in public will lesson our chances of getting COVID-19.
Across the Hudson Valley we've been doing a great job following the guidelines but now some doctors are saying that if we wear two masks, instead of just one, we could be better protected from the virus.
One doctor that has been Googled more than any other during this pandemic is Dr. Anthony Fauci and according to Desert News, he's one of the doctors saying wearing two mask is better than just one.
Dr. Fauci told NBC's Today Show that doubling up on masks "likely does" protect people more when it comes to mutant strains of the virus. He also said, "If you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on, it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective."
TV personality and daughter of John McCain, Megan McCain shared something interesting on Twitter today, not about wearing two masks, but some are suggesting that we wear three masks to increase our protection from the virus. Her tweet stated that people wearing two masks have 75% efficiency, with three masks jumping that number up to 90% efficiency.
My only question is, why don't health officials come out and say that the masks that most of us are wearing aren't the best options for effectiveness. Make it clear that we need to wear thicker masks or something better. Just a thought.
