Missing Man From Dutchess County Has Been Located

After days of uncertainty and thousands of people across the Hudson Valley sharing his story, there's finally some good news to report. Missing former Dover Town Supervisor Ryan Courtien has been found safe.

Last week, we learned that 49-year-old Ryan Courtien had been reported missing in Dover. At the time, police said he was last seen at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 12th, in the area of Waldo Road in the Town of Dover. He was wearing tan pants and a black T-shirt.

Over the last few days, New York State Police provided several updates on the search. Thankfully, on Friday night they announced that Ryan had been found after someone reported a possible sighting at the Harlem Valley–Wingdale Train Station on Wheeler Road in Dover.

According to police, at approximately 5:56 p.m. on July 17, Dutchess County 911 received the report. Members of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, who were already in the area, responded and confirmed the individual was Ryan Courtien.

Courtien was then transported to a local medical facility for evaluation. Police have not released any additional information about his condition. The news comes as a huge relief for his family, friends, and the entire Dover community, who spent days searching and hoping for his safe return.

Courtien, a former Dover Town Supervisor and the current chairman of the town's Planning Board, has dedicated years of service to the community. Following his disappearance, countless residents shared his information across social media while local officials and law enforcement worked tirelessly to help bring him home.

Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino was among those urging residents to help, calling on the community to rally together for someone who has given so much to Dover over the years.

In announcing the update, New York State Police thanked the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, assisting law enforcement agencies, members of the media, and everyone in the public who shared information and remained vigilant throughout the search.

Police said the tips and information provided by the public were instrumental in Ryan's safe recovery.
