Reba McEntire surprised fans with "Stronger Than the Truth" early Friday morning (Feb. 15), and it won't set the tone for a fun night out on the town. The heartbreaking song about a painful breakup is the title track and first taste of her new album, Stronger Than the Truth, out April 5.

"You never think it'd be your story when you're pulling the wool off your eyes / You know, you think you know somebody then you don't and you don't know why / Having me another won't make the clock rewind / But I'm drinking every drop knowing what I'm looking for, I'll never find," she sings in "Stronger Than the Truth," a story-song which paints a vivid portrait of drinking pain away and what it feels like to start fresh when you didn't expect to.

McEntire knows of the words she sings. In 2015, she split from her husband of 26 years, Narvel Blackstock — a divorce which she says blindsided her. "The divorce was not my idea," McEntire admitted in 2016. "I didn't want it in any shape, form or fashion."

The country icon publicized a new relationship at the 2018 Grammys. It was the first time she and Anthony "Skeeter" Lasuzzo stepped onto the red carpet together, and they've been having fun — and sharing their joy with fans — since. McEntire and her boyfriend of since 2017 regularly post pictures of their travels together, and as she told Taste of Country last year: "We love the mountains. Everything that we have encountered ... we love going to plays in New York." She met Lasuzzo while vacationing with friends in Jackson Hole, Wy.

McEntire will host the 2019 ACM Awards two days after her album comes out, on April 7. After years of offering two hosts, the ACM called on the redheaded country star to go at it solo in 2018.

"I guess they finally figured out that it only takes one woman to do the job of two men," she said during her 2018 monologue.
