At the time police weren't sharing much information, but explained "The area was checked and there does not appear to be a specific danger to the public in that area at this time."
While the victim is in stable condition, the City of Beacon Police Department continued to investigate and are now hoping the public can help.
Beacon Police Release New Details About Possible Assault Suspect
The City of Beacon Police and Chief of Police Thomas Figlia are sharing details about a possible suspect in the assault.
In a press release shared in January 15th, 2026, the City of Beacon Police say the possible suspect is a "white male, wearing a black leather jacket or coat (not a puff coat), a black knit hat and blue pants or jeans."
They go on with more details adding "The suspect is described as possibly being in his 30s-40s, approximately 5'11" with a medium build and having a brown, very close beard.
Security Camera Footage Needed by City of Beacon Police
The City of Beacon Police are calling on the public to help collect footage from the day of the assault.
If you live in the area of Tironda Ave and Wolcott Ave. police are asking for footage from January 14th, 2026. Any footage depicting an individual that fits the description above "or most of that description" should be shared immediately with the City of Beacon Police Department at 845-831-4111.
Many Beacon residents and locals have raised concerns about the amount of information released so far. The City of Beacon Police write "To address some concerns about the information that has been released so far, we do not take the public's concerns lightly at all."
Please understand that this is a sensitive investigation and that in certain, traumatic cases, it is not even appropriate to fully take a statement from a victim until time has passed. It would therefore be irresponsible for us to prematurely release information which we, objectively, could not rely on.
Chief Figlia adds "We, again, must also balance the public's need to know with the needs of the victim's privacy and the potential to compromise an investigation and/or prosecution."
