There was an alleged abduction attempt earlier this week in Dutchess County.

The Red Hook Police Department is reporting on their Facebook page, that on Monday, January 13th they were notified of an abduction attempt on East Market Street in the Village of Red Hook.

According to the post at approximately 5:48pm a 12-year old male victim reported that a man, described as a shorter white male, with gray facial hair and possibly gray hair, approached him.

The victim reported that the man drove a "blue Chevy pick up truck, possibly a four door."

The young boy told police he was walking westbound into the Village of Red Hook and that the suspect pulled up to him and said "Hi, I know your father." When the boy didn't respond, the suspect got out of his car and approached the boy.

Police report that "When the victim saw him approaching he fled the area. The suspect left the area headed East on Rt. 199."
