Orange County Fire to Participate in RecruitNY Weekend

Do you dream of becoming a firefighter? Well this weekend you can get an up close and personal look at what being a firefighter is all about.

Is a press release, Orange County has announced that Orange County fire services will participate in RecruitNY weekend, which is this upcoming weekend on April 27th and April 28th.

RecruitNY is a campaign with the the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York to increase the number of volunteer firefighters.

Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus said in a statement "Volunteer firefighters are part of the backbone of our communities and I thank them for their bravery and dedication. These men and women have made a commitment to public service and have shown a willingness to risk their own lives to save others each and every day.”

On RecruitNY weekend fire departments will open their doors and give future volunteer firefighters a look at what goes into becoming and being a volunteer firefighter. The public is also encourage to visit the open firehouses to get a "better understanding of the role the local fire department plays in protecting their community."
