We know the Hudson Valley is great at coming together to help their community members. One Hudson Valley official is asking for our help over seas.

Back in October of 2018 it was announced that Orange County Executive, Steve Neuhaus would be deployed over seas with the Navy Reserves. It was announced in January U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer announced that Neuhaus would be leaving for a tour in the Middle East.

Neuhaus, a Lieutenant Commander, wrote in a statement before his deployment "““I, along with many other Orange County residents, have an obligation to fulfill my commitment as a member of the armed services. Over the past five years, my administration has put together a tremendous leadership team. I’m confident that they, along with the County workforce, will continue to work diligently for the taxpayers of Orange County.”

The Orange County Post is reporting that Neuhaus has reached out to his Hudson Valley community recently. In a video Neuhaus asked that supplies be sent over for soldiers. Neuhaus asks viewers to send over products such as Gatorade mixture, foot sprays, deodorant, hand santizer, chap stick, disposable razors, baby wipes, shampoo and condition and q-tips. He stresses that eye drops are a "very high priority" as well as sun screen

Snacks are also welcomed, crackers, energy bars, nuts, seed cookies and hard candy are all recommended.

These donated items can be dropped off at the Orange County Office of Veterans Affairs in Goshen.
