Off-Duty Hudson Valley Officer and Dog Bring Victim Back to Life

A New York State Police from the Hudson Valley officer is being credited with saving a man's life.

Trooper Jonathan Brody was spending his day off as he often does, by taking his K9, Rence, to a demonstration. But before the duo could show off the dog's policing skills they received a disturbing call.

A 911 operator announced that a Hudson Valley individual had suffered cardiac arrest. Since they were nearby, Brody and his K9 responded to the scene. That's when the found the victim unresponsive in the roadway.

With no pulse, the officer decided to administer two shocks with a portable AED device and begin to give the person CPR. Trooper Brody continued chest compressions until EMS arrived on the scene. A pulse was eventually discovered and the victim was transported to a local hospital.
