This Saturday (September 26,2020) is National Seat Check Saturday. According to the National Days Calendar online this day is usually set aside for the 4th Saturday in September. However, it has been none to fall on the 3rd Saturday once in a while. It's purpose is to bring awareness to the proper use and installation of child safety seats.

According to information supplied by the Nation Days Calendar the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) promotes National Seat Check Saturday on the 4th Saturday in September every year due to the fact that their statistic show that one child under the age of 13 is injured in a motor vehicle accident every 33 seconds.

Many communities take this opportunity to hold an event with local police departments so you can stop by and have your child's safety seat inspected. One such event is being held this Saturday with New York State Police Troop F at their headquarters in Middletown.

NYSP Troop F is located at 55 Crystal Run Road in Middletown and they along with their child safety seat technicians will be on hand from 9 AM to 1 PM to assist with the installation of your child's safety seat. They will also be happy to answer any questions you might have regarding child car seat safety.

Important to note that you will need an appointment to attend the event so please contact Technical Sergeant Michael Belgiovene at (845) 344-5300
