NY Allows Sale of Ice Cream Made With Beer, Hard Cider
Maybe you have tried wine ice cream in New York (which has been available for the last few years) but had been thinking what would vanilla ice cream taste like if it had a dark bourbon barrel stout in it? Or what about an apple ice cream that has been made with a local hard cider? Hungry yet?
The news for you is good then. This week Governor Cuomo signed a bill into law that will allow for the immediate sale of ice cream in New York that has been made with beer or hard cider. The restrictions on the sale require that the product to be labeled that it is made with alcohol, to have the abv of 5% or less and sold only to persons 21 years of age or older.
The other good news is that this law went into effect immediately, so you might find this new ice cream at a business near you very soon.
