Nor’easter Could Bring 1 Foot Of Snow To New York, Hudson Valley

After temperatures in the 80s, here comes snow!? Up to one foot of snow is forecast for parts of New York State and the Hudson Valley.

Winter Storm Warning  Sullivan, Western Ulster, Western Greene, and Delaware Counties

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Sullivan, Western Ulster, Western Greene, and Delaware Counties.

On Sunday, Hudson Valley Weather alerted readers about the Winter Storm Watch adding the storm may lead to heavy snow and power outages.

"The watch includes Sullivan, Western Ulster, Western Greene and Delaware Counties where 5-10” of heavy wet snow may fall. This will be a heavy wet snow and may lead to power outages. Accumulating snow cannot be ruled out in the lower elevations, but confidence remains very low," Hudson Valley Weather wrote.

On Monday, Hudson Valley Weather updated its forecast. Hudson Valley Weather now believes locations above 1,500 feet may see over six inches of heavy snowfall and areas above 2000 feet, especially in the western Catskills, may approach a foot of snow.

"Exactly where the access of heaviest snow occurs across the western parts of the region is track dependent- as are the impacts in the lower elevations of the Valley," Hudson Valley Weather wrote on Monday.

Hudson Valley Weather warns strong winds and heavy snow could result in power outages.

"Snow will be extremely heavy and wet. This coupled with gusty winds associated with the deepening Nor Easter may result in power outages where heavier snow does occur. Snowfall rates will become quite impressive at times overnight with 1-3” per hour possible- this coupled with gusty winds will make for extremely treacherous travel across the high country and potentially lower elevations if there are any changes to the current projected track," Hudson Valley Weather stated.

Winter Storm Watch Issued for Parts of Central New York

Metorogilsits believe Oneida, Madison, Onondaga, Cayuga and Cortland, Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis counties could see an inch to a foot of snow, Syracuse.com reports. It's believed Oneida and Madison counties, along with areas near Syracuse will see the most snow.

Accuweather also warns of a Nor'easter coming to parts of New York.

"Wintry weather isn’t over yet as a new storm brings the chance of snow to the interior Northeast during the first half of the week," AccuWeather tweeted.

Accuweather thinks parts of New York could see around six inches of snow.
