New York Historic Dirt Track Announces Cuts To Race Schedule

The New Year has arrived and most of us have spent the last few days thinking about what we will be doing in 2024. We are making plans to do the things we love from year to year and also hopefully a few new activities as well.

The Hudson Valley has so many exciting annual events that have just become staples on our calendar from year to year. The County Fairs like Ulster, Orange, and Dutchess. There are festivals each year that we love to attend in our communities and for decades Middletown, New York has been home to dirt track excitement kicking off every April at the Orange County Fair Speedway.

April being only 3 months away many racers and fans who enjoy racing in Middletown, New York were wondering what will be this year's schedule. Normally you might think it is going to be the same as last year, 2023 but unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case.

The Orange County Fair Speedway announced the 2024 schedule and some fans are discouraged by the news. They posted to their social media that they are working on the schedule but they won't be working as they had in past seasons. They want racers and race fans to be prepared for things to be different.

Orange County Fair Speedway Has A Long History Racing in Middletown, New York

The Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown has been home to dirt track racing for almost 200 years. It was built in 1857 for horse racing and staged its first car race in 1919. The oval dirt track has not only has racing it has also been the site for many musical events.

Last year at this time the schedule was up in the air as well with the news that the Orange County Fairgrounds may have been sold. Typically racing is held every Saturday night with a few exceptions. In 2023 the schedule was lighter than in past years. Chances are 2024 will be the same.
