Two New Features Added to Select Roads in Poughkeepsie
Have you noticed the two new additions to select roads in Poughkeepsie, NY?
If you spend time driving on any of the roads in Poughkeepsie, be aware that there have been a couple of new additions that might affect the way you drive. The good news is that both of the new additions are safety-related, which should make some streets safer.
Poughkeepsie Adds Speed Bumps to City Street
The first addition I noticed while driving through Poughkeepsie the other day was in front of the Clinton Elementary School on Montgomery Street. As you can see in the picture above, two new speed bumps have been placed in front of the school at 100 Montgomery St, Poughkeepsie, just in time for back to school.

It's unclear when the speed bumps were installed or if they will be permanent or not, but they will be in use throughout the school year. It's important to note that if you do approach the new speed bumps, drivers are encouraged to drive slowly over them and not to attempt to drive around them by going into the other lane of traffic.
New Lights Installed Along Poughkeepsie Road
The second addition is part of the massive roundabout addition at the intersection of Vassar and Hooker Ave. Now that the new multi-million dollar roundabout installation is complete, crews have installed brand new lights along the sides of both roads.
The new lights pictured above will not only make it safer for any pedestrians who walk in the area at night, but they will also make the road brighter at night for drivers.
