If you and your Dad enjoy fishing, there's a new spot to take him this Sunday for Father's Day. It could also become one of your favorites to spend some time with your dad throughout the summer.

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the City of Kingston announced today the opening of the first publicly accessible dock on the Rondout Creek in downtown Kingston. It provides a safe place to catch a variety of fish such as perch, largemouth bass, and striped bass.

This will allow city residents, who may not own a boat, to also enjoy the waterways, plus the ramps, as well as the dock, are handicap accessible.

According to the DEC, Kingston Mayor Steve Noble worked on this project with the Parks and Recreation Department before taking office. The project is funded through a grant from DEC's Hudson River Estuary Program, in partnership with the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission to provide access to the Hudson River and its tributaries for under-served neighborhoods.
