New Paltz: Win a Piece of Original Hudson Valley Art

If you have ever visited Historic Huguenot Street this painting needs no explanation. If you haven't had a chance to get there yet, you must stick it on your 2020 visit bucket list. Once you arrive you won't be able to miss this iconic building nestled among all the history that is Historic Huguenot Street (HHS).

Recently, Historic Huguenot Street held an outdoor art event, "Artist on the Street" where 11 local paintings placed themselves throughout Huguenot Street and created plein air art. Vaune Sherin the artist who painted the painting featured in this article was one of the artist at the event. She generously donated her painting to Huguenot Street to help them raise money to support the important preservation work of the historical buildings and site.

This is the part where you get to jump in and hopefully end up being the lucky owner of this original piece of Hudson Valley Art. HHS is raffling off the painting and all raffle donations will support Historic Huguenot Street.

The artist shared this Artist Statement regarding the painting - "I was drawn to the French Church by it’s simple yet beautiful shape and the way that the sunlight hits the roof. I enjoy painting in the peaceful setting on Historic Huguenot Street. The historical buildings are so interesting and well maintained. I was inspired to donate my painting in hopes of raising some money to help with the continued maintenance of such a fantastic historical site."

The painting measure 16 inches by 24 inches and being a pastel it is framed behind glass. As an added treat the frame was hand made from repurposed oak flooring by the artist's husband. Tickets start at just $10. The raffle runs now through August 27th at 11:59 PM. They plan to hold the drawing live on the HHS Facebook page on August 28th.
