Police Provide New Information on Homicide in Kingston
Police have released more information on the homicide that was reported in Kingston, New York on Sunday.
Earlier this week we told you about an apparent homicide that reportedly happened on or around Meade Street in the City of Kingston. At the time, the City of Kingston Police didn't share much information about what happened but did say that they, along with numerous law enforcement agencies were actively investigating the report and that they would be releasing more information as soon as possible.
Victim Identified in Kingston, NY Homicide
The City of Kingston Police Department (KPD) has provided an update on the Meade Street homicide saying in a press release that at approximately 2:11 p.m. on Sunday, June 2nd they received a call through Ulster County 911 reporting a person was deceased at 11 Meade Street in Kingston. KPD officers along with members of the Kingston Fire Department responded to the scene and upon arrival located a deceased 71-year-old female.
Rieke Guercio was pronounced dead at the scene and according to police, she had suffered numerous blunt force injuries and injuries from an edged weapon. They didn't release any information pertaining to suspects or persons of interest but did say that "nothing in the investigation indicates that there is any threat to public safety regarding this incident."

This is an active investigation being handled by numerous law enforcement agencies including the Town of Ulster Police Department, the New York State Police, the Ulster County District Attorney's Office, Ulster County Sherriff's Office, and The Ulster County Medical Examiners Office.
