Jennifer Rizzotti has had an unbelievable career since she graduated from New Fairfield High School, now she's taking on the role of President of the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA.

A member of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, Rizzotti honed her skills in High School as a member of the New Fairfield Rebels before heading to UConn and becoming a national standout.

While at UConn, she was part of the perfect 35-0 season in 1995 that led to a Division One National Championship.

After college, she joined the WNBA playing eight seasons which included two championship seasons with the Houston Comets in 1999 and 2000. After leaving the WNBA Rizzotti embarked on a coaching career that led her to the University of Hartford where she spent 17 seasons.

She is currently the assistant coach of the USA Women's Olympic Basketball team, but now is ready for her next challenge as President of the WNBA's Connecticut Sun.

According to Mohegan Sun, Rizzotti is thrilled to be back in Connecticut and once again part of tyhe WNBA.

I am so honored to rejoin the WNBA family in this leadership position with the Connecticut Sun. This league employs the very best women’s basketball players in the world. But more importantly, the WNBA is an inclusive and diverse community of women that inspire, lead and in their own words, “provide a voice for the voiceless.”  I am proud to have won two championships as a player in the WNBA and will work tirelessly to help bring a championship to the Sun franchise.

Rizzotti, being from Connecticut, is no stranger to the time honored tradition of the Mohegan Sun Tribe.

When you open the official website of the Mohegan Tribe, the first thing you read is Honor the past. Building for the future. I believe the immediate future of the WNBA has never been more exciting.  The level of talent, growing support around the sports world and the league’s commitment to be a keystone for cultural change in these tempestuous times, makes this upcoming season one of the most important in its already rich history.

Rizzotti's term as President starts immediately as the schedule for the upcoming 2021 season was just released. The team will open up on the road against the Atlanta Dream on Friday May 14th. Then on Sunday May 16th it's the first home game, which due to the pandemic, also marks the first time Basketball will be played at the Mohegan Sun Arena since game 4 of the WNBA finals back in October 2019.
