The New Paltz Police Department will be participating in National Child Safety Passenger Week September 18th through the 24th.

As part of their efforts the New Paltz Police Department will be holding a child passenger safety check on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Shoprite, at 258 Main Street, New Paltz.

According to a press release, three out of four car seats are being used incorrectly, and car crashes are the leading cause of death of children ages 1-13 years. Ensuring that parents have the safety information and car seat instructions is crucial in saving young lives.

Parents who are concerned with the safety of their child's seat, can stop by for a free inspection, no appointment necessary.
