My Thoughts On ‘The Irishman’
I will be the first to admit that I really don't know much about the mafia, or despite the fact that I'm married to one, Italians.
The extent of my Italian knowledge is that they swear all the time, talk with their hands, have big families and cook way to much food.
When it was announced that the movie 'The Irishman' was going to be on Netflix, my wife was overly excited.
I really wasn't sure why until I talked to her dad. He knew the majority of the people that were portrayed in the movie. In fact, he was actually in the famous restaurant the day of the "final meeting'.
The movie was really good. Nicely done with story line but 3.5 hours seemed like a little much. After the movie, I still felt like it was a little to long but I really don[t know how they could cut it down and still tell the same story.
It explains who Jimmy Haffa was, his life and how he become involved with the mob as well as the story of the famous "Irishman".
The movies says that most of the scenes happened in Philadelphia but speaking with my father-in-law, most of it actually happened in a town in PA called Old Forge. Old Forge is mostly known for their pizza and is located about 5 miles south of Scranton.
If you are a history buff or just like movies that have action, drama and a bit of thriller all in one, I suggest this movie.
It is NOT however for the faint of heart or anyone under 18, in my opinion.
