I was introduced to John Prine by my first husband. I don't mean I actually got to meet John. No I wasn't that lucky. I guess I should say I was introduced to John's music by my first Husband, Mike.

It was 1990 and Mike had a friend who lived in Pennsylvania. For the life of me I can't recall his name but eerily he looked like John Prine. Anyway we went to visit him and his family for fourth of July. II remember it was a big weekend gathering with lots of fun, friends, fireworks, beer, food and music. Most of the music was Mike friend on guitar and all of us singing around the campfire. One of my most vivid memories was all of sing John Prine songs. I remember thinking why haven't I ever heard these songs before they are awesome.

The one that stuck with me all this time is the song I always call "Half an inch of Water" but the real title is "That's the Way the World Goes Round". At least I knew it wasn't about an enchilada. I regret I only got to see John Prine perform live once but his style and music never leaves your soul.
