Quarantine and social distancing are the name of the game right now to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

We're being told to stay home and keep 6 feet away from one another. Which is easier said than done, apparently.

While we are told it's okay to go outside and enjoy the fresh air, it's not okay to be surrounded by tons of people. Which is why parks are closed or closing. Including our favorite hiking trails.

Scenic Hudson announced on March 27th that the popular Mount Beacon Park is closed. They say on Facebook:

We know you're itching to get outside, but after discussion with the City of Beacon's administration, we have decided to temporarily close this park. The park has seen lots of use in recent weeks, and due to its narrow trails, it's not possible to maintain the recommended 6-foot distance from others.

If you're looking for recommendations on where to hike or take a walk, Scenic Hudson recommends "less crowded parks or, better yet, take a walk in your neighborhood or find a quiet dirt road and enjoy the emerging spring."

Since the parking lot is closed, they ask you not to park along the side of route 9D.  Breakneck Mountain
