Monticello Mom Found Passed Out At McDonalds With Kids In Car, Police Say

Monticello resident Sharina Burkes, who pleaded guilty 10 years ago to manslaughter in the death of her baby, was arrested Thursday after she was found passed-out in her car at a McDonald’s with her two kids in the vehicle, according to authorities.

According to the Times Herald Record at about 5 p.m., the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office said, it received a report of a woman slumped over the steering wheel of her car in the parking lot of the McDonald's on Route 42. When officers responded the found the woman passed out in the car with her 2 children also in the car.

She was charged with operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs, and with endangering the welfare of a minor.
