A significant fire ripped through a building which houses a number of Hudson Valley businesses, closing a major road during rush hour in the process.

Multiple fire departments responded to a significant structure fire early Thursday morning on Salt Point Turnpike in Poughkeepsie. The Roosevelt Fire Department was the lead agency with nine other fire departments assisting on the scene and additional ones on standby, officials say.

Salt Point Turnpike was closed between Bedel Road and Cream Street for hours as first responders battled the blaze.

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro was at the site to deploy county resources to assist, including two public transit buses to serve as warming space for firefighters at the scene as well as shuttle staff to and from staging areas.

Assistant County Executive Ron Hicks was also at the site to help business owners with resources and assist any displaced employees.

The building houses a number of local businesses including Thomas Gleason Inc. and Hudson Valley Acoustical, according to Google Maps.

Around 7:30 p.m., Roosevelt Fire Department - Engine Company 2 announced on Facebook the blaze was put out and thanked everyone who helped putting out the fire. No injuries were reported.

The building's condition hasn't been released but photos, seen below, shows the building destroyed by the fire.

Dutchess County officials will be working with the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control to assist with the ongoing fire investigation.
