Grammy nominee Luke Combs was not among the winners when the 2019 Grammy Awards took place on Sunday night (Feb. 10), and the rising country star opened up about his feelings in a stunningly honest post to social media.

Combs turned to Instagram on Monday (Feb. 11) to share his feelings after losing out to Dua Lipa in the all-genre category of Best New Artist at the Grammys in Los Angeles. The "Beautiful Crazy" singer said he was feeling better after his initial disappointment at hearing someone else's name called.

"I can’t say that when the words 'and the Grammy goes to...' didn’t have my name at the end of them, that it didn’t hurt, that I wasn’t mad, or that I didn’t want to win," he writes. "Of course I wanted to win, everyone who is nominated for a Grammy wants to win, that’s just human nature. After a fun night of after parties mixed with feeling sorry for myself I realized something, how blessed I am, win or lose."

Comb accompanied his post with a series of pictures, explaining that the first one was of his band members, who had gathered to watch the Grammys on a rare day off from touring just to support him. The second picture is his fiance, Nicole Hocking, "who I have the pleasure and privilege to spend the rest of my life with."

He also shared pictures of his two managers, whom he describes as "the first people who ever took me seriously as an artist and the two people who fight the most for me to have all the amazing opportunities that I do and they do it well," thanking them for "believing in me when no one else would."

Combs also posted a picture of one of the enormous crowds that have come to see him during his headlining Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour.

"You have changed my life in ways that I never thought were possible on this SOLD OUT ARENA TOUR!," he writes, thanking them for "spending your hard earned money to watch us do what we love, for telling people about our music, and for singing your hearts out all night."

Combs also thanks his parents in the series of photos above, and he says he's gained new perspective from the experience of seeing someone else win the award that he wanted for himself.

"So the next time that envelope opens and 'The Grammy Goes To...' someone else, I’ll be ok with it, I won’t let it get the best of me, because I am surrounded by the best people in the world everyday and that is something truly worth cherishing," he writes.

Country music played an unusually large role in the 2019 Grammy Awards. In addition to Combs, Margo Price was also nominated for Best New Artist, and Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris and Brandi Carlile were all nominated in mainstream all-genre categories. Musgraves ended up sweeping all of her categories, winning Best Country Solo Performance for "Butterflies" and Best Country Song for "Space Cowboy," as well as Best Country Album and the mainstream Album of the Year category for Golden Hour.

Carlile also won big, taking home Best American Roots Performance and Best American Roots Song for "The Joke" and Best Americana Album for By the Way, I Forgive You.
