Local Brookfield VFW Auxiliary to Honor Veterans at Military Ball

The Jason D. Lewis Memorial VFW in Brookfield is putting together a night to honor all local veterans.

The event, a Military Ball, is being planned by the Brookfield VFW Auxiliary 10201, which is the newest auxiliary for the VFW. The Ball will be held on Friday night November 12 at the Waterview in Monroe, and is an event put together to raise funds to assist our Veterans and Veterans causes within the Brookfield/Greater Danbury community, and this year the Ball will be honoring the U.S. Navy.

The event, which takes place one day after Veterans Day, will also feature keynote speaker and former highly decorated U.S. Navy Seal Andy Stumpf.

Tickets are available online now through October 22 and can be purchased through the post's site at vfw10201.org. The Military Ball is open to the public and all military personnel with special group discounts for a table of 10 or more. For more details call (203) 788-4763.

The evening will consist of a cocktail hour, three course dinner, top shelf open bar, a live DJ, raffles, a silent auction, and pictures available for purchase. Formal dress attire, or military uniform is required.

The VFW stands for those who have served or are currently serving our country, and can trace it's roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War and the Philippine Insurrection founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service. Many veterans arrived home wounded or sick and there was no medical care or veterans pension for them, so they were left to cover all costs and care by themselves. Today, the Brookfield VFW along with VFW Posts all around the country support our service members while they are on the front line, as they are being discharged, and long after they return home.

The Jason D. Lewis Memorial VFW was named in honor of the former Brookfield resident, Chief Petty Officer and Navy Seal, who was killed in the line of duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
