It looks like another local business will be shutting its doors once 2022 arrives.

If you stopped into Kohl's in Ridgefield over the last few days, you probably noticed that you were greeted by a sign on the door that says the store will be closing for good as of January 16.

Kohl's first opened its doors in the Copps Hill Plaza in Ridgefield back in April of 2000, and for the last 21 years has been a staple of the plaza and the Ridgefield community.

Back in July of 2020, we reported that HomeGoods would be taking over part of the space that was occupied by Kohl's, and it looks like that's still on the table.

Home Goods Coming Soon To Copps Hill Plaza In Ridgefield

No matter who takes over the Kohl's space, HomeGoods, which has its National Headquarters in Framingham, Massachusetts, will still be moving in and according to regencycenters.com, the parent company that operates the Copps Hill Plaza will occupy 24,173 square feet, leaving the remaining 65,400 of footage available for a new business.

At this time, there are a number of businesses that have expressed some interest in the location, but no names have been thrown around just yet. However, we do know that there will be some construction to the site taking place after Kohl's leaves. The construction includes a new entrance for HomeGoods, which will reflect the tower-gate style of Kohls' current entrance. A new loading dock will also be added in the rear of the building.

The rumors surrounding the Kohl's Ridgefield location closing have been circulating around for the last few years, but every time Kohl's announced nationwide closings, the Ridgefield location survived the cut, this time it didn't.
