Motorists are told to find alternative routes after an early morning crash forced the closure of a local bridge until further notice.

On Thursday around 6:40 a.m., the New York State Bridge Authority announced an accident has forced the closure of the Kingston–Rhinecliff Bridge in both directions.

"Kingston Rhinecliff Bridge: Accident on span. Bridge closed until further notice," the New York State Bridge Authority wrote on Facebook.

A witness on the scene tells us there was a three-car accident with rescue crews getting to the area.

Hudson Valley traffic reporter Nancy Remy reports there are injuries, adding traffic is also snarled up eastbound around Flatbush Road and jammed westbound near River Road.

Update: 7:30 a.m.:  The New York State Bridge Authority announced the bridge has been reopened. However, traffic delays remain in both directions. Motorists are told to use caution.

We will update this article if more information is released.
