Kelly Clarkson Addresses Rumors of a Feud With Carrie Underwood: ‘Let’s Just End This Right Now’
Kelly Clarkson addressed rumors of bad blood between her and Carrie Underwood head-on at the Radio Disney Music Awards on Friday night (June 22), making it clear that there's no truth to them.
Clarkson and Underwood were both among the honorees at the awards show, which took place in Los Angeles, and they made headlines when they posed for a series of pictures together on the red carpet, smiling into the cameras and clowning around like old friends. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight afterward, Clarkson said it was her idea to pose together.
"Everybody always tries to pit me and Carrie against each other," she says. "So, when I saw her I was like, ‘You know what? Let’s just end this right now and get a picture together because we are never in the same place.' And, like, it never happens. And people always try to put it together like we’re enemies. And I’m like, ‘We don’t even know each other well enough to be enemies.' So, anyway, I went to get a picture and then everybody lost their mind."

Clarkson launched her music career after she won the first season of American Idol in 2002, and Underwood shot to stardom after she won the fourth season in 2005, making her Idol's first country music champion.
The superstars exchanged tweets in April after a website asked readers to decide which one of them was the most iconic American Idol winner of all time, with Underwood noting that she wished "more publications would just celebrate women’s success without pitting them against each other."
