Jana Kramer turned to Instagram on Saturday (Dec. 9) to share some very painful news. The actress and singer has suffered a miscarriage.

Kramer shared the news alongside a photo of herself with eyes downcast, holding a sonogram.

"Today I am 1-3," she writes, referencing the statistic that one in three women will lose a pregnancy. "I debated posting this for the exact reason why it’s a silent struggle. I don’t want I’m sorry or sympathy. I just don’t want to feel alone. And I know I’m not."

Kramer goes on to explain that she hadn't announced the pregnancy because she has had a miscarriage before.

Country Stars Who've Suffered Tragedy

"This unfortunately isn’t my first loss," she reveals. "When I first found out I was pregnant I wanted to shout it from the rooftop but I know for reasons like this we have to wait. So because we don’t tell many, we have to suffer silently...and suffering silently was my thing in the past, but it’s not now."

She says she's sharing her story because all of the women who have suffered such an emotionally devastating loss need to "be there for each other. You don’t need to feel alone and maybe that’s me talking to myself but if you need a place to share, I’m here for you...and all of us are."

Kramer says she is "knee deep in crying" in the wake of her loss and doesn't really have the words to describe what she's going through. But for women who are going through a similar experience, she recommends her friend Kristen Brust's blog, A Little Bit Fancy. In a post titled "What Heaven Takes," Brust — whose husband is LoCash singer Preston Brust — details the sorrow of her own miscarriage in July.

Kramer and her husband, Michael Caussin, welcomed a baby girl, Jolie Rae Caussin, in January of 2016.
