Two Lives Lost in Taconic Accident, LaGrange New York
Reports of a motor vehicle accident on the Taconic State Parkway southbound in LaGrange, around the 46.6 mile-marker, started coming in mid-afternoon on Tuesday, October 15th.
Police Share Details of Dutchess County Incident, October 15th
According to New York State Police blotter records, an investigation is still underway regarding a motor vehicle crash on the Taconic State Parkway near the Taste NY Market at Todd Hill. The incident was first reported shortly before 3:00pm on Tuesday, October 15th, and involved two vehicles traveling on the Taconic State Parkway in the area of Todd Hill Road.
The vehicle operators were identified as Joseph W. LaFave of Lagrangeville, age 35, and William F. Sheibel, of Wading New York, age 69.

Deadly Accident on Taconic State Parkway
New York State Police issued a press release on Wednesday October 16th with additional information regarding the fatal crash, sharing that the day prior, October 15th, NYSP responded to a 'serious motor vehicle crash' around 2:42pm that involved a wrong way driver.
New York State Police indicated that preliminary investigations revealed that the 35 year old driver of a 2017 BMW X1, LaFave, 'traveled north in the southbound lane on the Taconic State Parkway in the area of Todd Hill Road.' It was then that LaFave struck another vehicle head-on in the left southbound lane.
The other vehicle, a 2017 Lincoln Navigator, was operated by 69-year-old Sheibel, who was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Also in the same vehicle was a 67-year-old female passenger, who was also transported to Mid-Hudson Regional with 'non-life-threatening injuries.'
LaFave, according to police, was pronounced deceased on the scene by first responders.
At this time, the investigation of this accident remains ongoing.
