Hudson Valley Ski Park Perfects Conditions For Ultimate Alpine Experience
A Hudson Valle Ski area under new ownership was on a quest to figure out the snowmaking process, quite literally from step one. After a great deal of work, they made it rain, er, snow, and are now up and running in Monticello.
Holiday Mountain Ski & Fun Park
Any change in management or ownership can certainly be a learning process, but when that learning process involves the major thing needed for the operation to run, the stakes are higher.
The 'new' Holiday Mountain Ski & Fun Park, located in Monticello, is not new to the Hudson Valley, but has been a 4-season destination and one of the leading spots to ski and snowboard in the area. They have been spending the past several months hard at work prepping for 'the most epic revival season in our 66 year history.'
In addition to what you would expect from a ski resort (skiing, tubing, lessons), Holiday Mountain offers live webcams on their website where you can check out the conditions from the comfort of your home before heading to the mountain to experience it first-hand. Plus, they even have gourmet waffles available on site at their 'waffle shack,' Everett's Maine Waffles, and they have re-opened The Lift Room Bar, located in the South Lodge.
Monticello Ski Mountain Learns Snowmaking Process
The team at Holiday Mountain did an incredible job documenting the re-opening and snow-making journey, noting all they did to work out all the bugs and posting regular updates and photos along the way.
If you scroll through their videos and photos, you may learn a lot about the type of conditions needed to produce the perfect snow for the slopes. Admitting that they 'literally didn't know how to make snow a few weeks ago,' the team at Holiday Mountain, in order to bring the site to it's full potential 'jumped in this season with all new infrastructure, bundled up and went at it 100%.'
Following a number of what they called 'snow making marathons' Holiday Mountain was finally able to open up one of the trails on Saturday January 13th. Since then, lessons have begun, and what they are referencing as 'the newest snow-tubing park in the Catskills' has opened.
