Fans of a beloved Hudson Valley bar and restaurant were shocked this week to learn that one of their favorite spots was closing after five years of business. Luckily,  the news isn't all bad.

It takes bravery, patience, and grit to open a restaurant anywhere, let alone in the Hudson Valley. For every legendary dining spot that stays open, there are 10 that didn't survive. Thanks to their dedication to the local community and their employees, however, this popular Sullivan County business that many patrons say helped them through the 2020 pandemic, will live on in a new way.

High Voltage Catskills in Mountain Dale, NY Announces Closure

"It is with the most bittersweet sentiments that we announce the closing party of High Voltage", began a post from High Voltage Catskills, a bar and restaurant in Mountain Dale, NY. Owners Jason and Sonia also shared their impressions of the town when they opened back in 2017:

The first time we cruised down Main Street it was pretty much a ghost town and we thought, ok, this will be interesting. Five years later and we are the last ones standing from a pioneering original group [of business owners], but the town has grown so much and we now leave proud of what we’ve accomplished

High Voltage Catskills in Mountain Dale, NY is Changing Ownership

While the current iteration of High Voltage will close their doors on Saturday, December 9th, a new version of the bar & restaurant will take its place. Owners announced that a long-time bartender will take over the business, with plans to add to the existing menu and reopen under the name Creek Bar.

The new name is in reference to what may be the most special detail of the business; a "literal bar in the woods" behind the main restaurant that looks over the Sandburg Creek (above). The arrangement was key in keeping the business open (and patrons eating and drinking) during the COVID-19 pandemic that forced restaurants to move their business outdoors.

Take a Tour of Sullivan County, NY's Newest Underground Salt Cave

Crystal Connection is a 1890's antique, Methodist church located in Sullivan County, NY. This is a crystal lover's dream come true.

It's known for being

"One of the largest Crystal & Mineral destinations on the Northeast."

While this may be a place that some people gather often, others can refer to it as a hidden gem in the Hudson Valley.  Crystal Connection can also be described as

"a sacred space & crystal haven"

I have never experienced anything similar to Crystal Connection before. The amount of crystals, crystal jewelry, singing bowls, sage and more are fascinating. Crystal Connection also hosts different events and fairs throughout the year.
