Fire Sparks at LaGrangeville Car Wash

On Friday, April 26th, members of the Union Vale Fire Department were celebrating at their yearly Inspection Dinner, honoring and celebrating members of the Fire District. Shortly after 8 pm that night, an Automatic Fire Alarm at the BeWise Car Wash would require a response from the LaGrange and Beekman departments, who were providing coverage to the UVFD at the time.

At 8:14 pm on Friday, April 26th, an Automatic Fire Alarm originating from the BeWise Car Wash triggered the Union Vale Fire District, and subsequently the Beekman and LaGrange Fire Districts via a dispatch call.

When the first crews arrived on scene at 2046 State Rte 55, in Lagrangeville, they found 'a large volume of black smoke emanating from the structure, along with visible fire on the first floor.'

It was at that time that a second alarm went off at the car wash, requiring two additional tankers to respond to the site due to the size of the structure, with reports circulating around the community categorizing the situation as a 'Second Alarm Commercial Structure Fire.'
