New Fox Series Films Across the Hudson Valley

In May of 2025 news broke that a new show would be calling the Hudson Valley home.

Best Medicine, starring Josh Charles, Annie Potts and Abigail Spencer, was set to premier on Fox in early 2026.

It's a remake of the popular U.K. series Doc Martin, with Josh Charles taking the lead as Martin Best who is "a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child" as reported by Deadline.

Doctor Best has a unique personality that ends up rubbing the locals the wrong way.

Best Medicine Pulls In Impressive Streaming Numbers For Fox

Best Medicine premiered in early January and the numbers are in. As we all know, numbers don't lie and Best Medicine is pulling some impressive streaming numbers.

Deadline reports that the Hudson Valley-filmed show has delivered Fox's "most-streamed debut in nearly 3 year" with 10.8 million viewers to date. They add "That marks a promising commencement for the new comedy drama, which Fox also says has generated about 1 billion minutes viewed across its first two episodes."

As Hudson Valley locals, we can take at least some of the credit for the shows success right?

Additionally Deadline reports:

The series, which has consistently appeared on Hulu’s “Top 15 Today,” ranks as Fox’s most-streamed debut in nearly three years, the network says.

Does Best Medicine on Fox Take Place in the Hudson Valley?

The show 100% films in the Hudson Valley. Over the last few months you may have seen yellow signs on local roads in Dutchess and Orange County with "BMD, "Crew" and directional arrows plastered on them.

The area around Bowdoin Park and the New Hamburg Yacht Club were popular filming locations.

However if you go to watch the show, you wont hear a Hudson Valley mention. Best Medicine takes place in a coastal fishing town in New England called Port Wenn, Maine.

But if you pay close enough attention you'll realize it's the Hudson River in all of those water shots.
