Police: Hudson Valley Teen Threatens Mother With Knife
An Ulster County teen was arrested following a domestic dispute with his mother in which he allegedly threatened her with a knife.
On Saturday, New Paltz police responded to a residence for a domestic dispute involving a mother and son. During the investigation, police determined that a 16-year-old male displayed a folding knife box cutter and waved it in a threatening manner.
While the teen waved the knife, he told his mother that he was going to cut her and also stab her, according to a press release.
The teen's name, which is not being released at this time was charged with Menacing in the second-degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon fourth-degree.
The 16-year-old was taken into custody, and arraigned the Town of New Paltz Court. He was released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court at a later date.
After the teen was released, officers accompanied by the teen's mother transported the teen to a local hospital for a psychological evaluation.
