The cockroaches were found yesterday morning in two meal bags that were given to students at the Robert J. Kaiser Middle School.

Once teachers found the bugs they took collected the food that was given to students and discarded any other bagged meals that were distributed to students. The Food Service Department also threw out any remaining bags.

Robert J. Kaiser Middle School Principal Nichole Horler said

We are relieved that alert staff members quickly notified administrators so that meals could be collected and discarded,Our food service and custodial staff are reviewing our food storage and service practices to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

Students were given an alternate breakfast consisting of cereal bars, fruit and milk after the cockroaches were discovered.

The school district also said that they are confident that no students health was harmed by the meals.

The school is encouraging parents to contact the school nurse or a private doctor if they feel their child’s health was affected.
