Popular Hudson Valley Road Closed Due to Falling Rocks
The Kingston Police Department via their Facebook page earlier today announced the closure of Abeel Street in Kingston due to falling rocks from the CSX Railroad Trestle. They are asking motorist who typically use that road along the Rondout to find an alternate route. Abeel Street is currently closed and they are not sure at the time this article is being published as to when it will re-open.
Kingston Police are asking that you avoid Abeel Street until further notice between Wilbur Avenue and Dewitt Street due to loose debris and rocks that fell off a train as it passed over the CSX trestle above. Fortunately no person was injured but there are reports of several vehicles being damaged.
Plans to re-open Abeel Street are underway but the debris will have to be removed from the overhead trestle before the police will open the road. In addition to the damaged cars and crash was also reported in the area. The police will notify the public when the area has been cleared and the road re-opens.

This is the same CSX line that was reported on early by us regarding crossing being block in local neighborhoods.
