This Is A Sure Sign that the Warm Weather is Over in New York
The Fall in the Hudson Valley is awesome. You can go apple picking and pumpkin picking. The nights get chilly, the days are crisp, it is a nice change from the hot, humid Summer. There is one downside to all the autumn fun that makes it a bit of a bummer, as October comes to a close, so do our favorite Hudson Valley Ice Cream spots.
Hudson Valley Ice Cream Shops Are Closing for the Season Soon
Over this past weekend, with the cold, rainy weather, it was clear that our ice cream days in the Hudson Valley are numbered. Then, as one might expect, the notices began coming. The ice cream spots you may have followed for the summer are now posting on social media that it's over; the 2025 ice cream season is coming to a close.
The first post I saw with a definite closure was Quicky Twin Cones on Route 17K in Bloomingburg, which just two weeks ago was promoting a tasty deal between them and Stonehenge Farm that involved putting apple cider donuts on an ice cream sundae. Now they have us counting down the days until they close up shop this weekend, which means we will have to wait until 2026 for our next cone.
Ice Cream Shops in Ulster County are Getting Ready to Close for the Season
Yesterday, The Jolly Cow at 1622 Ulster Avenue in Lake Katrine announced that they are closing soon as well. They have invited everyone to stop out and celebrate this Sunday from 11 AM to 9 PM. This will be the last day for you to grab a yummy soft serve before the doors close. Don't wait to make the drive.
Mary Jane's Dairy Bar on Route 9W in Newburgh is also getting ready to close the ice cream window for the season. Their last day for 2025 will be Thursday, October 25th. So I suggested that if there is a place you want to grab one more cone, you do it soon, because it sounds like most places will be closed before Halloween.
