Hudson Valley Fire Departments Celebrate Breaking 2 Big Milestones
Earlier this week two Hudson Valley Fire houses shared big news on social media. Both celebrated a member of their team.
The Hudson Valley has many dedicated men and women who work in our communities with our local fire departments. Two of those people were celebrated this week by their firehouses.
Germantown Hose Company #1 makes History this we in Germantown New York
Germantown Hose Company #1 held its monthly meeting this past week. During the meeting there were elections. At the end of the night, history had been made for Germantown, New York as it was announced that Crystal Kilmer had been elected to Assistant Chief, making her the first woman to ever hold that position for the department.
I reached out to find out more about Assistant Chief Kilmer and found out that she has been with the department since 2013. She has held the role of Treasurer, Secretary and President.

The fire department spokesperson mentioned that Assistant Chief Kilmer also was elected to the role of Lieutenant and worked hard to become a Captain. Now Assistant Chief Crystal Kilmer has the proud distinction of being the department's first female Assistant Chief.
Cronomer Valley Fire Department Celebrates a Lifetime Member
The entire gang showed up for Cronomer Valley Fire Department Lifetime Member Hank Kaiser. Fellow department members showed up to celebrate Hank's 90th birthday.
Hank was described in a social media post as the "voice of Cronomer Valley" where he has served for 63 years. The celebration for Hank marked both his birthday and tears with the department.
People who commented on the Cronomer Valley Fire Department's Facebook page also expressed their well wishes for Hank's birthday and thanked him for his 63 years of ending service to the department.

In 2024 if you are looking to make a difference in your community check in with your local fire department on how to become a volunteer. or even a paid firefighter. Chances are your department needs help. If you want to help but can't be a firefighter there are other things you can do that will make a difference.
