How One HV Fire District is Protecting Members From Covid-19
Taking any means necessary to protect first responders.
Most of us are taking as many precautions we can to avoid coming in contact with the coronavirus, public gatherings have been shut down, restaurants have closed and can only offer curbside and grab and go food but what about the people that have no choice but to respond when called upon?
I'm talking about the first responders across the Hudson Valley that will come to our need if called. How are these folks being protected from the possibility of coming in contact with someone that has Covid-19?
One Hudson Valley fire department has taken steps to make sure that their members are kept as safe as possible by putting together whta they are calling, "PPE kits" for all of their EMT’s according to their Facebook page.
The Plattekill Fire District has put together the kits to include a Tyvek suit, an N95 mask, a disposable stethoscope and 2 pair of gloves. These kits are to be used by members if they have to respond to a potential COVID-19 case.
EMS Captain Jeff Ashdown told us that the Plattekill Fire District strives to provide the best care to the members of the community at your time of need and wanted to remind folks to wash your hands with soap and water frequently and avoid touching your face unless your hands are clean.
