Have You Ever Gotten A Holiday Bonus?

Do companies still give them out?

With the holiday season here, like I do every year, I have to watch the classic movie Christmas Vacation and every time I watch I ask myself, "What happened to the Christmas bonus?" I have to think back over twenty years ago to the last time I got anything from a boss for the holidays.

Back when I worked for a family owned radio station in the 90's I got like a $200 bonus one year and I have to tell you it felt like I won the lottery. Yeah it was only $200 but I remember saying to myself how cool is it that these bosses appreciate me enough to give me free money. If you have ever gotten a bonus you know the feeling!

With that in mind, I can't imagine how the people that work for this real estate company in Maryland. The company is St. John Properties, and over the weekend they surprised employees when they gave them a $10 million holiday bonus, according to CBS 6.

The money will be divided among 198 people and the average employee will get around $50,000, with some employees getting as much as $250,000. The employees say they plan to pay off their mortgages, send their kids to college and take vacations.
