At this time of year, we are all so grateful to be home for the holidays. A place where we feel safe and can enjoy ourselves with family and friends. The holiday season reminds us how important a safe place to call home can be; it is a place to grow family, celebrate, and dream.

Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County believes that everyone should have a place to call home, not just during the holiday but all year long. The Habitat Dutchess Home Buying Program is working in our community to make it possible for people to have a home they can call their own.

How to Support Affordable Homeownership with Habitat Dutchess

This month, you can help by making a financial, tax-deductible contribution to expand Habitat Dutchess' critical home repair and construction programs. As we close out 2025, it is a great time to pay it forward for 2026.

Something to consider is donating your old car. Yes, your old vehicle can help build and repair homes while also helping the environment. The Cars for Homes Program was launched in 2005, and since that date, Habitat has accepted more than 160,000 vehicles for resale or recycling, which has directly led to helping local families toward their goal of home ownership.

What is The Cars for Homes Program at Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County

Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County can make it fast and easy to donate a vehicle, and you may qualify for a tax deduction. Vehicle donations raised over $72 million in just the last five years. For information on this program, please call: 1-877-277-4344.

Another great way to help Habitat Dutchess help people achieve the dream of home ownership is to donate new and gently used items to the ReStore on Route 9 in Wappingers Falls. Your donated items help stock the shelves. Every purchase made at The ReStore directly supports Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County and its mission to help build homes for our neighbors.
